Home Town

Returning to the East Coast beach town I grew up in for imagery. Phrases borrowed from surfer slang are switched into blocky arrangements of negative space. Each painting is made up from the shape of its title phrase, though they may not be easy to read. Familiar words, obscured by time and colored by new experiences.

Surfer Slang

Simple sayings from the nomenclature of my teenage subculture, surfing, have both the warmth of old names remembered and the strangeness of memories at arms length.
